Our friends at Information is Beautiful came up with a rather "useful" study a few years ago for the savy and frequent traveller entitled "Reduce Your Odds of Dying in a Plane Crash" which we feel compelled to share with you.
Keep in mind, your chances of dying in a Plane Crash are 11,000,000 to 1. You are five times more likely to be struck by lighting. (for more comparisons, check out the odds at the end of the study)

Not wanting to be rude, and excited to finally get out onto the river, I closed my eyes and threw back the free shot of Tiger whiskey that I’d just been handed. With the fiery drink still burning in my throat I was awarded my ‘Vang Vieng Tubing’ armband – a scraggy piece of green cloth tied around my upper arm. It’s a souvenir that is proudly worn and recognised amongst backpackers as the true mark of a traveller…it says that you braved the Vang Vieng tubing experience and lived to tell
